Hi! I am really glad you are here! I write about varied topics, including cooking, canning, parenting, our chickens, gardening, urban farming, queerness, fits of craftiness, exercise/training and social justice.
Regular Features:
- Can Jam: A monthly canning escapade I am participating in where the participants are to can (hot water bath canning) an item chosen for the specific month. More info here: Tigress in a Jam: Tigress’ Can Jam You can follow along with my canning attempts, successes and failures.
- Can Jam Round-ups: The Tigress does her own round-up of all the participants (over a 100) and I narrow it down to the entries that piqued my interest the most. This could be because of how tasty it sounded or an interesting recipe or something I’m desperate to try or a great post.
- Mid Month Meanderings: A monthly walk around the garden to see what is in season or in bloom.
- Park Spotlights: Write ups or reviews of Seattle area parks I, or we, visit with the Babylady. They are more likely located in the southwest part of Seattle since that is closer to where I live but any park is up for grabs. We go to a lot of parks, but for the purpose of this feature I am focusing on parks that aren’t “typical” when discussing parks for toddlers/kids. Or parks that are lesser known. Or parks that are more outdoor-nature-educational focused than play structure focused and offer something for more than just the kid. There are many great parks in Seattle that do this that you can check out also- Discovery Park, Carkeek Park, Lincoln Park, Seward Park and Gasworks Park to name a few.
- For the Love of Salads: I love salads. Love them. More coming soon on this feature!
